Socorro is located next to Serra da Mantiqueira, in an extension of 449,2km² that counts with mountainous areas and a great hydrographic potential. It has an estimated population of 36.686 people and has limits with the cities: Águas de Lindoia and Monte Sião - at North -, Pinhalzinho - at South -, Bueno Brandao - at East -, and Monte Alegre do Sul and Serra Negra - at West.
The city is at a 132km distance from the capital, in a height of 745 meters. It has a warm weather with temperatures that vary in the summer from 25 to 34 degrees Celsius and in the winter from 1 to 15 degrees Celsius.
